FAQ's

When choosing a Home Care agency, look for the following:

How many years experience does the home health care agency have?
The agency you choose should have a proven track record in providing services to your community and be a provider in good standing with the Department of Health in your community.

Is the agency licensed in the state?
Make sure that the agency you choose is licensed and regulated by a state agency that performs regular audits and maintains rigorous standards. Foremost is licensed by the New York State Department of Health.

Are all employees licensed and bonded?
A properly trained, state licensed and bonded caregiver should be the only individual you allow into your home. Foremost Home Care will provide you and your loved ones with such an individual. These caregivers will be properly trained through a state licensed certified training program that includes CPR and other life saving techniques. Always ask to see a certificate insuring that your caregiver has had this advanced training.

Foremost Home Care Inc. is covered by general liability and malpractice insurance, worker’s compensation insurance and bonded in the event of theft. Be sure to ask whether the agency you choose performs criminal background checks on all its employees to insure your confidence in the person caring for your loved one.

Is the patient’s care plan discussed with the patient, family and physician?
At Foremost, we believe that all facets of the patient’s care should be discussed with the patients and/or their families. Communication is an essential element in the development of a safe and effective care plan for your loved one. Foremost’s nurses review the care plan with the caregivers and remain in contact with the family, patient and physician to make sure that the care plan is appropriate, re-evaluated and carried out accordingly.

Other factors to consider…

• Available Workers: does the agency have a large pool of workers available to meet your home care needs?
• Geographical Location: does the agency have workers located in your area of need?
• Special Care Programs: if you are a client with special needs, does the agency provide workers with special training in your area of need?
• Cost of Services: in general, all services will be private pay or by a third party payer.
